Unseen Emergency
Homelessness was on the rise due to the pandemic with a substantial spike in individuals and families living out of their cars. We broadened our creative view to include all of the populations at risk of experiencing homelessness to show audiences just how vulnerable anyone can be.
Behind the Scenes
We reached out and spoke to Built for Zero representatives from across the country to hear their stories, and these stories became the characters, but we didn’t stop there. To ensure authenticity while filming, we invited NAME to set to advise us throughout the production.
Out of the Shadows
Our “Out of the Shadows” campaign featured John Meier of Abilene, TX, a United States Navy veteran who, after losing his job, was forced to live out of his car. Now, he’s a leader within the Built for Zero movement committed to helping his community, which reached functional zero for veteran homelessness in 2019.
Out of the Shadows – Behind the Scenes
Both Kate and Mike felt the importance of having this story come to life in veteran’s voices. They centered the work around John Meier and his story, then partnered with Kyle Hausmann-Stokes – U.S. Army veteran and Founder/Director of VME (Veterans in Media & Entertainment) – to direct and produce the spot with a cast and crew made up of veterans.
